What is the Match Score and how does it relate to JumpSteps+?
Your Match Score is a 1–100 compatibility score built from your goals, financial profile, and preferences. It measures how well a specific financial product fits you — right now. Anyone can generate a Match Score for free. JumpSteps+ takes that score further: it saves your profile, alerts you when rankings change, cross-references your score with our editorial ratings database, and surfaces personalized preferred offers from institutions where your match is strong.
Does JumpSteps+ do a credit check?
No. JumpSteps never initiates a hard credit inquiry, and neither does JumpSteps+. Your Match Score is calculated entirely from the goals and preferences you share with us — not from pulling your credit file. When you choose to apply for a financial product through a partner, that partner may conduct their own credit check as part of their normal application process.
What are Preferred Offers and how do I qualify?
Preferred Offers are exclusive rates, promotions, or terms that JumpSteps has negotiated for subscribers with partner institutions. They're surfaced automatically when your Match Score indicates strong compatibility with a product and you meet the partner's eligibility criteria. Not every subscriber will qualify for every offer — the goal is to show you offers where you're genuinely likely to be approved and where the product genuinely fits your profile. We surface offers where your score indicates genuine compatibility.
Can I cancel my subscription?
Yes — cancel anytime from your profile settings. There are no cancellation fees and no minimum commitment. If you're on an annual plan and cancel mid-year, your Plus access continues until the end of the billing period. We don't offer prorated refunds for the remaining term, but you'll never be charged after your current period ends.
How is JumpSteps+ different from just using the free Match Score?
The free Match Score gives you a single calculation — your score across five dimensions for any product you choose to evaluate. JumpSteps+ adds persistence, intelligence, and action. Your profile is saved and monitored. You receive alerts when rankings shift. Your scores are cross-referenced with our editorial ratings from 13 publications. Preferred offers are surfaced automatically. And as your financial situation changes, re-scoring is instant. Think of the free score as a single snapshot; JumpSteps+ as the ongoing picture.
Does JumpSteps earn money from the products it presents?
JumpSteps may receive compensation from partner institutions when subscribers apply for products through our platform. This is disclosed in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Importantly: no brand pays to directly improve its editorial rating or directly influence your Match Score. Compensation can affect which products are made available as Preferred Offers — but it does not affect the underlying editorial scores or the Match Score calculation.
